On the occasion of the International Children’s Day celebrated in Turkmenistan, a festive celebration took place at the Palace “Döwletliler köşgi” [Orphan’s Palace], during which gifts were presented to the students of the Palace on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship and public organizations.
In the Palace, children acquire not only knowledge, but also various professions that allow them to enter adulthood after graduating from school. All conditions have been created there for the comprehensive harmonious development of children: they get to know the world of fine art and music, engage in sports clubs.
Many students are prize-winners of prestigious competitions and international festivals held in Turkmenistan and abroad.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in his address on the occasion of the International Day for Protection of Children stressed: “Children are our pride, joy in every home, magnificent flowers of our wonderful life and its continuation. Therefore, we are successfully implementing targeted programs so that our happy children, who are living in joy and well-being in their native land, have a full rest, study, create and become educated, erudite, physically strong and well-mannered people devoted to their Fatherland.”
Having ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted by the United Nations, Turkmenistan closely and fruitfully cooperates with one of the largest specialized agencies of the United Nations – UNICEF, demonstrating high responsibility in ensuring optimal living conditions for its young citizens.
It should be noted that Turkmenistan is rightfully recognized as a country of happy childhood. The State policy in the field of childhood is designed to ensure full-fledged physical, intellectual, spiritual, moral development in accordance with the norms of the Constitution of Turkmenistan and international obligations. This is part of the general social policy, focused on improving the quality of life and creating the most favorable conditions for all Turkmen citizens, including children.
On occasion of the International Children’s Day, festive events were organized in all regions of the country, which became another evidence of the socially oriented state policy of Turkmenistan based on the high moral traditions of the Turkmen people and enduring universal values.
