President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov will pay a working visit to the United Arab Emirates on 1-2 December 2023 to participate in the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28). This was announced by DPM, Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov during a Cabinet meeting on Thursday.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of the World Climate Forum, the agenda of which will include issues of great importance for ensuring sustainable development on the planet and the future of all mankind.
“Turkmenistan is actually demonstrating a responsible and proactive position in addressing urgent environmental problems, which is also evidenced by the upcoming participation of our country’s delegation in the COP28 Conference,” President Berdimuhamedov said.
The UAE hosts COP28 from 30 November to 12 December 2023 in Expo City Dubai to unite the world towards agreement on bold, practical and ambitious solutions to the most pressing global challenge of our time.
The purpose of COP28 is to realize ambitious achievements to limit global warming to no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The conference will provide a thorough review of the progress made in attaining the goals of the Paris Agreement. COP28 brings together leaders from governments, businesses, NGOs and civil society to chart steps aimed at dramatically reduce emissions and protect lives and livelihoods. ///nCa, 1 December 2023
