On 5 June 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted political consultations between senior officials of the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye.
The Turkmen delegation was led by the Head of the Middle East Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, while the Turkish side was represented by Togan Oral, Head of the Main Directorate for Central Asian Affairs and the Organization of Turkic States at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, according to a statement from the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, both parties praised the longstanding, dynamic development of interstate relations, emphasizing that high-level engagements and regular diplomatic consultations play a crucial role in advancing bilateral cooperation.
The discussions encompassed a broad spectrum of issues, including the strengthening of political and diplomatic ties, expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation, and further development of the legal framework supporting bilateral relations.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration within international and regional organizations, recognizing the importance of multilateral engagement.
Regarding economic relations, the delegations emphasized the significance of coordinated efforts to enhance trade and investment, highlighting the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish Commission for Economic Cooperation and the Turkmen-Turkish Business Council as key platforms for advancing partnership in trade, energy, construction, industrial cooperation, and transport.
Additionally, mutual interest was expressed in further developing cultural dialogue and cooperation in the fields of science, education, sports, and healthcare.
The same day, Togan Oral met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmed Gurbanov to discuss the current state of Turkmen-Turkish cooperation across political, diplomatic, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. ///nCa, 6 June 2025
