Turkmen delegation paid a visit to Kabul to discuss electricity export projects with Afghanistan.
According to Afghanistan’s power utility company DABS, CEO of the company Alhaj Mula Muhammad Hanif Hamza met with head of delegation Myrat Artykov, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Kabul Hoja Ovezov and representatives of Calik Holding.
The agenda of the meeting covered such issues as electricity import from Turkmenistan, joint projects as the Noor ul-Jihad Substation and Surkhan-Pul- Khumri 500 kV Transmission Line.
The comprehensive discussions were held regarding some important technical aspects of the electricity transmission project from Turkmenistan to Herat’s Noor ul-Jihad substation, such as checking and evaluating the quality of the equipment, the line transmission route, and other issues.
US $ 3.2 million worth power transmission project will be realized by Turkmenistan and will be funded by the DA Breshna Sherkat, the DABS said.
By expanding cooperation, DABS has reached a tremendous increase in imported electricity from Turkmenistan, which is a sign of good neighborly cooperation between two countries, according to the company.
With the completion of the project, power deficit would be addressed in the province.
In January of this year, DABS and the Turkmenenergo Corporation signed a contract to expand the Noor ul-Jihad substation from 110 kV to 220 kV. With the completion of the 500 KV line and the construction of Noor ul Jihad substation, the amount of electricity imported from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan will increase by 110 megawatts.///nCa, 10 May 2023 [photo credit – DABS, Ariana news]
