The Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) organized a familiarization trip to Rize and Artvin for representatives of nine tourism agencies from Turkmenistan from 17 to 20 April 2026.
The program was dedicated to exploring the Black Sea coast—a lush, green region on Türkiye’s northern border, rich in cultural heritage. Nestled between the Black Sea and the verdant North Anatolian Mountains, the region’s luxurious landscapes, mist-shrouded hills, and traditional villages together embody its unique beauty and serenity.

During the visit, participants attended the “International Kaçkar Tourism Exhibition,” held in Rize from 17 to 18 April 2026 under the auspices of the Rize and Artvin provincial municipalities, where they engaged in B2B meetings.
The Turkmen tourism representatives visited numerous natural, historical, and cultural attractions across Rize and Artvin. Highlights included:
- Traditional Craftsmanship: Weaving workshops such as Rize Bezi (Feretiko), Zaimoğlu, and Tekpa, showcasing local fabrics woven on handlooms.
- Natural Landmarks: The Çeçeva Haremtepe tea plantation, Çamlıhemşin town center, Şenyuva village, Palovit Waterfall, the ancient Zilkale Castle, Fırtına Valley, and Borçka Karagöl in Artvin.
The Turkmen specialists also experienced various outdoor activities, including rafting, ziplining, giant swings, and boat trips along the Fırtına Valley and Çoruh River. The itinerary featured tastings of local cuisine at authentic restaurants and cafes across the Eastern Black Sea region. In addition to city-center hotels, the group toured boutique hotels and mountain resorts in the surrounding areas.
Furthermore, business meetings were held with members of the Turkish tourism industry to exchange information and establish long-term cooperation. ///nCa, 25 April 2026 (in cooperation with the Embassy of Türkiye in Turkmenistan)
