The 14th annual Korean Ambassador’s Taekwondo Cup concluded in Ashgabat with final bouts and an awards ceremony held at the Martial Arts Sports Complex of the Olympic Town.
The tournament took place on 13–14 June 2026 and was jointly organized by Turkmenistan’s National Taekwondo Centre and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.
According to information published by THP, the event once again highlighted the growing friendship and cultural ties between Turkmenistan and South Korea.
Now a well-established tradition since its inception in 2010, the tournament brought together more than 110 young athletes, including children, cadets, and juniors. Participants represented Ashgabat as well as teams from all five velayats of Turkmenistan.

Competitors contested medals in the kyorugi (sparring) discipline across 25 weight categories, with both individual and team rankings at stake. The final day featured a series of closely fought matches that showcased the high standard of taekwondo training in the country.
Organizers emphasized the importance of such competitions in encouraging healthy lifestyles among young people, raising athletic standards, and helping identify emerging sporting talent.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan, Lee Wonjae, who personally presented medals to the winners and runners-up. The athletes also received certificates and commemorative prizes from the organizers.
The tournament concluded with the announcement of the best-performing teams in the overall standings, which were awarded the competition’s main trophies. /// nCa, 15 June 2026
