The power transmission grids of Iran and Pakistan have been connected, announced Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Minister of Energy of Iran, as he spoke to the national Iranian TV on Sunday, 12 March 2023.
He said that the work, including the design and construction, was completed in less than a year and the swap capacity was 200 megawatt. His remarks came in the backdrop of the visit of the Pakistani minister of energy to Iran.
He said, “In today’s meeting with the Minister of Energy of Pakistan, there were good discussions about how to swap electricity through this line, and we hope to reach an agreement in this regard.”
According to the Mehr news agency of Iran, the Pakistani energy ministry announced on Sunday that during the official visit of the Pakistani energy minister Khuram Dastgir Khan to Tehran and a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, they agreed to expand bilateral electricity ties. /// nCa, 13 March 2023
