Türkiye continues to shine in sports tourism with a lively schedule of international events throughout the year — and winter is when the excitement reaches its peak. Erzurum, home to Palandöken Ski Centre and recognised as one of the country’s leading winter sports destinations, is preparing to host major competitions throughout the 2026 season.
Following its designation as the 2025 Tourism Capital by the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) and its recognition as the first European Capital of Winter Sports by ACES (European Capitals and Cities of Sports Federation), Erzurum has further strengthened its position on the international winter sports stage. Known for its long ski runs, modern facilities and reliable snow conditions, Palandöken provides a strong infrastructure for elite competition.
The highlight of the 2026 season will be the FIS Snowboard World Cup, set to bring the world’s top athletes to the slopes of Palandöken.
Snowboarders Meet at the Summit of Anatolia
The FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup is set to return to Erzurum’s Palandöken Ski Centre from 6 to 8 March 2026, marking the event’s second appearance at the destination. Known for its steep slopes, long courses and quality powder snow, Palandöken is widely recognised as one of Türkiye’s top destinations for advanced skiers and snowboarders.

The Snowboard Cross competitions will welcome around 300 athletes from 20 countries. Over three days of world-class adrenaline, the world’s top snowboarders will go head-to-head on Palandöken’s challenging slopes, delivering high-speed action and once again placing Erzurum in the international spotlight.
Festival on the Peak
Palandöken Ski Centre also stands out this year, not only for its international sporting events but also for the vibrant activities that add colour to the winter season. Held consecutively for six years since 2020, the Frozen Festival will take place at the centre for the seventh time on February 12–15, 2026.
As part of the festival, participants will enjoy four entertaining days featuring live music and DJ performances by internationally renowned artists, après-ski and night-time events, award-winning ski and snowboard competitions, yoga sessions, ice sculpting, and a series of unique workshops.
