
A meeting between Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Tom Berendsen was held in The Hague on 3 September 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
During the meeting, the sides noted the steady development of Turkmen-Dutch relations and expressed interest in further expanding political and diplomatic, trade and economic, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
In this context, the sides exchanged views on current issues on the regional and international agenda. The Turkmen side reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of permanent neutrality, the UN Charter, and political and diplomatic methods of addressing international issues.
As part of the discussion of the trade and economic agenda, the sides considered prospects for intensifying business ties and cooperation in areas including transport and logistics, port infrastructure, agriculture and modern agricultural technologies, energy, high technologies, and industrial cooperation.
The sides emphasized their interest in expanding direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation in education and the training of diplomats, including Turkmenistan’s long-standing cooperation with the Netherlands Institute of International Relations “Clingendael.”
The sides also discussed the World Beauty Championship for Akhal-Teke horses and the International Equestrian Competitions, which will be hosted by the Netherlands from 4 to 6 September.
The Dutch side welcomed the organization of such a large-scale international event dedicated to Akhal-Teke horses and Turkmenistan’s rich traditions of horse breeding.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their mutual readiness to maintain regular dialogue and joint efforts to further strengthen relations between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.///nCa, 4 September 2026
