Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia held a telephone conversation with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the official website of the Prime Minister of Armenia reports.
Pashinyan invited Berdimuhamedov to participate in the Leaders’ Summit to be held as part of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) in Yerevan in October this year.
The President of Turkmenistan accepted the invitation, the press release said.
The sides discussed the further development of relations between Armenia and Turkmenistan, as well as issues on the bilateral agenda. They emphasized the importance of expanding trade and economic ties and taking consistent steps in this direction.
The 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) will be held in Yerevan from 19 to 30 October 2026, with the Leaders’ Summit preceding it on 16 October. The summit will bring together heads of state and government, as well as senior representatives of international organizations. The Yerevan Declaration, titled “For the Sake of Preserving Life on Earth,” is expected to be adopted following the summit. More than 15,000 delegates from 196 countries are expected to attend COP17, making it the largest international event in the history of independent Armenia. ///nCa, 4 September 2026
