Ashgabat, 20 October 2026 — UNDP in Turkmenistan is supporting a digital literacy training course for 60 medical workers of the Directorate of the Center for Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan (MoHMIT). The training will run from 20 October to 20 December 2026.

The initiative comes as UNDP and the MoHMIT are introducing a wide range of innovative digital tools and targeted, scalable solutions across Turkmenistan’s health system, particularly in National Tuberculosis Programme and infectious diseases’ programmes. And the training therefore equips doctors and medical workers with the practical digital skills they need to embrace these new tools – as video-supported treatment (VST), mobile applications containing treatment protocols, QR codes for tracking and managing medical equipment, mobile X-rays equipped with CAD4TB AI module – and to use them effectively to improve the quality and safety of care.
The training forms part of the ongoing cooperation between UNDP and the MoHMIT to strengthen national and local mechanisms for digital initiatives in healthcare. Strengthening the capacities of medical workers at the local level and engaging health institutions provide a foundation for more systematic use of innovative digital tools and better health service delivery, while supporting the country’s national health priorities and the broader goals of sustainable development. ///nCa, 20 October 2026 (in cooperation with UNDP Turkmenistan)
