On 19 October 2026, in Samarkand, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, according to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
The parties reviewed current issues in the further development of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership.
Mirziyoyev and Meredov noted the high dynamics of contacts at all levels. The High Council for Strategic Partnership was recently established between the two countries. Trade turnover and freight volumes continue to grow steadily, and the “Shavat – Dashoguz” cross-border trade zone is operating.
