On 7 May, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, who is in Ashgabat on an official visit.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the sides discussed the traditionally close and friendly relations between the two nations, which are rooted in the principles of equality and mutual respect.
The meeting focused on bilateral economic cooperation, with a particular emphasis on attracting Turkmen investment, especially in the fields of transport, logistics, and manufacturing. The parties also explored ways to deepen interaction in trade and tourism.
Mariam Kvrivishvili highlighted Georgia’s role as a reliable partner providing seamless access to Black Sea port infrastructure and connectivity with Europe.
The discussions further covered Georgia’s participation in various connectivity initiatives aimed at developing competitive transport routes between Europe and Asia. It was noted that amidst recent disruptions in global supply chains, the “Middle Corridor” has gained significant recognition as a reliable alternative connecting the two continents.
Other priority areas of bilateral cooperation were also reviewed during the meeting.
