On 11 June 2024, Batyr Annayev, Chairman of the Turkmen Agency of Maritime and River Transport (“Turkmendenizderiyayollary”), met with the Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan, Ms.Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat.
The meeting focused on potential collaboration in maritime transportation and the transit of goods through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, says a press release published by Turkmendenizderyayollary.
According to a press release by the Indian Embassy, discussions also addressed the development and cooperation in the field of sustainable transportation systems.
The sides stressed the significant potential of the Turkmenbashi port, strategically located on the North-South transport corridor, for cargo transit.
Turkmendenizderyayollary representatives proposed an exchange of expertise in port management with their Indian counterparts.
The Indian Ambassador expressed interest from over 30 Indian companies seeking to visit Turkmenistan and explore possibilities at the Turkmenbashi port.
The meeting concluded with an agreement from both parties to actively pursue cooperation in maritime transportation. ///nCa, 13 June 2024
