Russia’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Ivan Volynkin, has described Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality as an important factor contributing to global stability and geopolitical balance in the region.
Speaking at a reception marking Russia Day, Volynkin said Moscow highly values its political dialogue with Ashgabat and maintains regular consultations on a broad range of international issues.
“Russian-Turkmen relations have always been a benchmark for building relations between two sovereign states,” the ambassador stated, emphasizing that Turkmenistan’s neutrality plays a stabilizing role in regional affairs.
Volynkin also noted the significance of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) during the organization’s 35th anniversary year. He recalled the recent meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Ashgabat, attended by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and pointed to the upcoming CIS Summit scheduled for October with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the ambassador, the strategic partnership between Russia and Turkmenistan serves the interests of prosperity, stability, and security across Central Asia and the Caspian region. /// nCa, 15 June 2026 (photo credit – Turkmenistan: Golden Age)
