A delegation from the Mejlis of Turkmenistan is participating in an international seminar titled “Enhancing the Role of Legislative Bodies and Strengthening China-Central Asia Cooperation,” held in Beijing from June 22 to 28. The event was organized by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China for parliamentary representatives from Central Asian countries.
The seminar aims to strengthen interparliamentary ties between Central Asia and China, facilitate the exchange of views on legislative matters, discuss key issues of interregional cooperation, coordinate development strategies, and promote mutually beneficial economic cooperation in line with current global trends.
In their remarks, the Turkmen representatives highlighted that strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and China continues to grow steadily, driven by the efforts of both countries’ heads of state and grounded in the principles of mutual respect, trust, and equality. They further noted that regional forums and seminars of this kind serve as vital platforms for identifying new avenues of cooperation and strengthening interparliamentary relations across Central Asia and China.
Participants gave particular emphasis to the expanding role of parliamentary diplomacy in ensuring peace, stability, and effective collaboration in the region. The seminar was also recognized as a valuable opportunity for the exchange of advanced legislative practices, with special attention given to the involvement of youth and women’s parliamentary associations. /// nCa, 25 June 2026
