Between 10 and 15 May 2026, a delegation from Turkmenistan led by the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Ata Serdarov, visited Kampala to attend the inauguration ceremony of the re-elected President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The ceremony took place at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in the Ugandan capital, Kampala. Following the event, the Turkmen delegation was received by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
During the meeting held at the State House in Entebbe, the President of Uganda was conveyed warm greetings and congratulations on his election victory and inauguration on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.
A letter of appreciation from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was delivered, thanking the Ugandan leader for the invitation to the ceremony and extending best wishes to the friendly people of Uganda.
President Museveni expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan on his own behalf and on behalf of the Ugandan people. The parties noted the significant potential for developing and strengthening friendly ties and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations.
During the visit to Kampala, the Chairman of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, Ata Serdarov, met with Richard Todwong, the Secretary-General of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Additionally, the Turkmen delegation held meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda at the level of department heads. Discussions focused on opportunities for enhancing relations in the political and diplomatic dialogue, trade and economy, culture and people-to-people exchange.
The delegation was also received by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Henry Oryem Okello, where the parties exchanged views on various sectors of bilateral cooperation. ///nCa, 15 May 2026
