On 7 March 2026, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov. During the call, the parties discussed the current situation in the Near and Middle East, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
It was particularly noted that all complex international issues should be resolved only through peaceful, political, and diplomatic means and methods based on international law.
Furthermore, in the context of recent air attacks against Azerbaijan, the sides emphasized the inadmissibility of violating such a fundamental principle of the UN Charter as respect for the sovereignty of states.
