Iran and Uzbekistan have agreed on the development of a trilateral multimodal transport corridor Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan–Iran. The relevant agreements were reached at the talks between the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov and the Minister of Road Economy and Urban Development of Iran Mehrdod Bazrposh in Tashkent, on Monday, 19 June.
Within the framework of the Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Iran corridor project, an operation agreement submitted by the Uzbek side will be finalized in the near future.
Iran will also reduce the fees charged to Uzbek national carriers transporting goods by road on a parity basis. In addition, the countries intend to streamline fuel taxes with taxes of other countries.
In order to further develop trade relations between the two countries, a sharp increase in cargo transportation, the parties came to an agreement on the establishment of an Iranian-Uzbek logistics center, as well as the construction of terminals and warehouses with the participation of Uzbek entrepreneurs on the territory of the Iranian ports of Chabahar and Bander Abbas.
The parties agreed to develop cooperation in the field of railway transport and hold a meeting between the responsible departments for this purpose. ///nCa, 20 June 2023
