Connecting Turkmen gas to international markets via the Caspian Sea and delivering it to global markets is one of the most important energy projects of our time, Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Director İbrahim Kalın said.
He made the remarks during a session titled “The Turkic World and the Vision of the Future from a Civilizational Perspective” at the Turkic World Dialogue Forum in Ankara.
Addressing the prospects for energy cooperation, Kalın stressed the need to strengthen ties and develop greater transport connectivity among Turkic countries. As an example, he cited the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan oil pipeline, jointly developed by Türkiye and Azerbaijan around 15–16 years ago.
In this context, Kalın highlighted the prospect of connecting Turkmen gas supplies through the Caspian Sea and subsequently delivering the gas to global markets, describing it as one of the most important energy projects of our time.
“Taken together, these examples show that the Turkic world has demonstrated its ability to achieve results far beyond its capabilities by acting collectively. It is important to build on this further. Energy security will remain a key issue in the coming years,” the MİT chief concluded. ///nCa, 30 October 2026
