On Tuesday, 7 April 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov led a large-scale cycling rally in Ashgabat to celebrate World Health Day. The event commenced in the morning at the “Bicycle” monument, located at the intersection of Chandybil Avenue and Bekreve Street. Participants traversed the capital’s main thoroughfares, concluding the route in the city center near the Ruhyýet Palace.
The rally saw high-level participation, including the Chairperson of the Mejlis (Parliament), Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, and heads of various ministries and departments. Joining the leadership were officials from the Ashgabat governorate, representatives of public organizations and the media, and university rectors. The event also drew significant participation from the international community, including heads and staff of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan.
The diverse group of cyclists included members of the national cycling team, university students, and schoolchildren—notably from the Olympic Reserve School. Also participating were children from the “Döwletliler köşgi” Palace (an orphanage) and other members of the public.
Similar mass cycling events were held simultaneously in the city of Arkadag and across all provinces of the country.
Upon reaching the finish line in Ashgabat, the President addressed the participants, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to encouraging the population, particularly the youth, to engage in regular physical activity and sports. He underscored the importance of promoting the principles of a healthy lifestyle as a national priority.
World Health Day in Turkmenistan was marked by a series of thematic events, including roundtables, scientific conferences, sports competitions, and cultural exhibitions involving students, civil servants, and professional athletes.

World Health Day is observed globally every year on 7 April under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO). In 2026, the celebrations were held under the theme: “Together for Health. Stand with Science.” ///nCa, 8 April 2026
