The Institut Français au Turkménistan invites classical music connoisseurs to an unforgettable musical evening. This event is a key highlight of the Francophonie 2026 cultural program and part of the distinguished pianist’s concert tour across Central Asia.
For the first time in Ashgabat, the renowned pianist Christine Fonlupt will perform on the stage of the Magtymguly Theater, accompanied by the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan. Having captivated audiences worldwide, her talent now offers the Ashgabat public a unique opportunity to experience her mastery live.
About the Artist
A soloist, chamber musician, and project director, Christine Fonlupt is a leading figure in contemporary piano performance. Her recent appearances include prestigious venues such as the Salle Cortot, the Festival Berlioz, the Opéra Comique, the Institut de France, the Amphithéâtre de la Bastille, and the Philharmonie de Paris. She has also collaborated with artists like Anne Baquet and William Mesguich at the Comédie-Française, the Théâtre du Lucernaire, the Théâtre de Nesle, and the Festival d’Avignon.
Her discography includes:
- A solo piano album featuring works by Fauré, Debussy, and Chausson from the 1890s (Passavant Music).
- Two Argentine tango albums with the Encuentro Tango Quintet (Buda Music and Passavant Music).
- A recording of works by Éric Lebrun (Chanteloup).
Currently, she is involved in various music-theater projects, including Le Phénix de ces dames (Studio Hébertot), Come Bach (Théâtre du Lucernaire), La girafe confite (Théâtre de Nesle), and Piazzolla y Poetas.
Education and Pedagogy
Her mentors at the Conservatoire de Grenoble and subsequently at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMD de Paris) included Christian Bernard, Janine Collet, Bruno Rigutto, and Nicholas Angelich.
She serves as the Artistic Director of the association Arteka 11, which organizes numerous concerts throughout France. Dedicated to passing on her knowledge to future generations, she founded the Piano Orchestra project and teaches at the CNSMD de Paris, the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot, and the Conservatoire de Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (Val-de-Marne).
