ASHGABAT — China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) will participate as a Platinum Partner in the 31st International Conference and Exhibition “Oil & Gas of Turkmenistan – OGT 2026”, scheduled for 21–23 October in Ashgabat.
The announcement comes as Turkmenistan and China mark 20 years of strategic cooperation in the gas sector and begin the fourth phase of development at the Galkynysh gas field.
Work on Phase IV formally began on 17 April 2026. The project provides for production wells and a gas treatment facility designed to produce 10 billion cubic metres of marketable natural gas annually. According to the article provided by the organisers, it is also expected to create more than 1,000 permanent jobs after completion.
CNPC began operating in Turkmenistan in 2007. Cooperation has since expanded to exploration, field development, drilling, engineering and energy infrastructure. The Turkmenistan–China gas pipeline entered service in 2009. Its three operating lines now carry more than 30 billion cubic metres of Turkmen gas annually. Cumulative deliveries to China had exceeded 430 billion cubic metres by April 2026, according to the organisers’ material.
The company has also supported training and professional development for Turkmen specialists, including internships and educational opportunities in China.
OGT 2026 will bring together energy companies, government representatives, investors and technology providers. Its programme will address Galkynysh, gas export routes, the TAPI pipeline, Caspian offshore development, gas processing, digitalisation and methane emissions.
