National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Michael Harms, Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, TDH reports.
The talks took place in Düsseldorf, which served as the arrival and departure point for the National Leader during his trip to the Netherlands for the World Championship and Akhalteke Horse Beauty Contest.
Welcoming the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty on German soil, Michael Harms conveyed best wishes from Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
The head of the committee expressed sincere appreciation for the invitation to participate in the World Championship and Akhalteke Horse Beauty Contest in the Netherlands and highlighted the high interest of German business circles in expanding trade, economic, scientific, and technical partnerships with Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed key vectors of bilateral cooperation in detail. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that healthcare, agriculture, and trade remain key areas of partnership.
In particular, new medical facilities scheduled to open on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence and Healthcare Workers Day are being equipped with advanced German equipment and innovative AI-based technologies.
In turn, Michael Harms confirmed the German side’s strong interest in developing cooperation and exchanging experience within the framework of the medical cluster being established in Arkadag City.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty noted the long-standing successful work of leading German companies in the Turkmen market and invited Michael Harms to visit Turkmenistan to participate in the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence and the Day of Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the further strengthening and deepening of Turkmen-German economic cooperation. /// nCa, 7 September 2026
