On 26 February 2026, Rashid Meredov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, participated in a joint meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries, Julia Ann Hoggett, CEO of the London Stock Exchange, and Lucy Rigby, Economic Secretary to the Treasury of the United Kingdom. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
According to the Ministry, the Turkmen side emphasized its “interest in strengthening practical economic cooperation with British partners and expanding the attraction of long-term capital for the implementation of infrastructure and energy projects.”
Beyond energy and infrastructure, Ashgabat sees significant prospects for partnership with London in the following sectors sustainable finance, banking and auditing, insurance services, digital solutions.
During the meeting, the Turkmen delegation highlighted the importance of the Turkmen-British Trade and Industry Council as the primary mechanism for coordinating bilateral cooperation.

According to the press release, there are currently approximately 30 enterprises with British capital registered in Turkmenistan, operating across construction, industry, trade, and the service sector. ///nCa, 27 February 2026
