ADB approved US $ 350,000 worth subproject titled Mainstreaming Gender in Project Preparation for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan
Subproject will support the preparation of projects in five countries, namely Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyz Republic, and Turkmenistan.
The technical assistance subproject outputs are as follows:
- country level gender information produced;
- preliminary gender design features of projects in priority sectors identified; and
- capacity development of government agencies on integrating gender perspectives in project development conducted.
According to ADB, project rationale behind this subproject is that the gender mainstreaming in Central and West Asia Department (CWRD) is guided by a comprehensive gender assessment in developing member countries. The Country Partnership Strategies (CPSs) are informed by a country gender assessment (CGA).
The assessments important especially in the context of the global pandemic that has affected men and women differently. The CGA will provide the needed gender analysis of the socio-economic situation and gender review of policies that inform the preparation of the CPSs and identification of indicative gender design features for projects in the different sectors. ///nCa, 27 June 2023
