With their captivating landscapes, rich cultural heritage and exceptional travel experiences, destinations across Türkiye offer an inspiring setting for international organisations’ annual meetings and gatherings, complemented by distinctive venues and outstanding hospitality. This appeal recently brought the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), the world’s largest adventure tourism network, to Türkiye’s world-renowned region of Cappadocia for its Board of Directors Meeting from 16 to 19 October.
Led by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, hosted by the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), and supported by Turkish Airlines, the high-level event brought together ATTA’s board members, senior executives and global industry leaders in Cappadocia, whose remarkable landscapes and diverse outdoor experiences reflect the spirit of adventure travel.
Beyond its mesmerising fairy chimneys, Cappadocia offers an extraordinary range of ways to explore, from hot air balloon flights over volcanic valleys to cycling, scenic hikes and traditional horseback riding. Atmospheric cave hotels and distinctive venues overlooking panoramic valley views further enrich its appeal, creating an inspiring setting for executive meetings and corporate retreats.
ATTA Leadership in Cappadocia
Since its inception in 1990, the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) has grown into the leading global network for adventure travel. Today, its global ecosystem connects over 100,000 professionals worldwide, including tour operators, lodges, travel advisors, tourism boards, destination marketing and management organizations, travel professionals, gear and tech companies, insurance companies, and travel media. The Association plays a pivotal role in driving sustainable, responsible growth in adventure tourism, strengthening cross-industry collaboration, and elevating destination visibility on the international stage.
ATTA’s choice of Cappadocia as its global leadership destination underscores the growing international prestige of Türkiye’s adventure travel sector. While the ATTA delegation held its annual board meeting in Cappadocia this year, they also discovered the region’s vast adventure tourism potential and diverse offerings firsthand. The curated itinerary included an exclusive e-bike tour through scenic valley tracks and a scouting visit to the Salomon Cappadocia Ultra Trail route. Demonstrating a personal commitment to the destination, ATTA Board Chairman Erik Blachford personally competed in the Salomon Cappadocia Ultra Trail race—a cornerstone event in the country’s trail-running calendar held from 16 to 18 October. A standout highlight of the programme was an exclusive B2B networking cocktail on 18 October 2026.
Designed as a strategic networking platform, the event connected local adventure tourism operators, hoteliers, and regional stakeholders with the ATTA Board of Directors to explore high-impact collaborations and cultivate valuable trade relationships.
Demonstrating ATTA’s confidence in Türkiye as a promising, high-potential adventure tourism destination, the Board Members Meeting was important for advancing ATTA-Türkiye cooperation and introducing Türkiye’s adventure travel offerings to key global trade figures. The meeting is also expected to pave the way for strategic partnerships to host future major international ATTA events in Türkiye, including Elevate Europe and the World Summit.
Cappadocia: A Harmonious Blend of Nature, History and Adventure
As one of Türkiye’s most cherished destinations, Cappadocia brings together extraordinary landscapes, millennia of history and a remarkable diversity of adventure experiences. Sculpted by wind and water over millennia, its volcanic valleys and iconic fairy chimneys create a spectacular setting for year-round exploration. From scenic valley treks and challenging e-bike and mountain biking trails to horseback safaris and hot-air balloon flights, each adventure reveals a different perspective on the region’s unique terrain.
Beyond its outdoor adventures, Cappadocia pairs discovery with refined hospitality. Atmospheric cave hotels, a sophisticated culinary scene featured in the MICHELIN Guide and vineyards preserving centuries-old winemaking traditions offer rewarding ways to unwind, bringing local flavours and cultural heritage into the adventure. ///nCa, 28 October 2026 (in cooperation with the Embassy of Türkiye to Turkmenistan)
