On 9 September 2026, Ashgabat hosted a regular meeting of the Secretariat for Multilateral Cooperation in the “C5+1” format, which brings together the Central Asian states and the United States of America, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The meeting focused on the further development of the “C5+1” format, as well as practical aspects of interaction in priority areas of the regional agenda.
Participants reviewed the progress in implementing the agreements reached and discussed proposals to further enrich the agenda of multilateral cooperation. Special attention was paid to preparing for upcoming meetings and events, as well as coordinating relevant organizational matters.
During the exchange of views, the importance of regular interaction within the “C5+1” format for advancing regional cooperation and joint initiatives was underscored. In this context, discussions addressed opportunities to expand cooperation in critical minerals, trade, and transport.
A separate section of the meeting was dedicated to practical cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the United States, including fostering contacts between relevant government bodies and expert circles.
Following the meeting, next steps were outlined for the Secretariat’s work and the preparation of events scheduled within the “C5+1” mechanism. /// nCa, 9 September 2026
