On the sidelines of the “Agro Pack Turkmenistan 2026” international exhibition, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Dr. Faryal Leghari, met with Nokerguly Atagulyev, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers overseeing trade, the textile industry, and the private sector, to discuss expanding bilateral economic cooperation.
During the meeting, DPM Atagulyev briefed the Ambassador on the upcoming Turkmen Textile Expo, scheduled for 4-6 June 2026, and extended an invitation to Pakistani textile firms. While acknowledging that current cooperation in the sector is productive, Atagulyev emphasized that there is significant room for growth and a need to further solidify the partnership.
The Ambassador informed the Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Minister that due to regional situation and austerity measures, unfortunately no official delegation is able to come this year. However Pakistani Textile companies are participating privately and the Embassy is coordinating and facilitating their visit.
Looking ahead, the Pakistan Ministry of Commerce is already planning to send a large official textile delegation to the event in 2027.
Pakistan Textile sector already imports high-quality yarn and grey cloth from Turkmenistan and would like to export Pakistani fabric, home textiles and apparel to Turkmenistan in the near future.
To further catalyze these efforts, Ambassador Leghari invited Nokerguly Atagulyev and Turkmen textile manufacturers to visit Pakistan for specialized exhibitions and fairs. These events would take place alongside the official visit of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Pakistan, which is scheduled for later this year. ///nCa, 14 May 2026
