On 8 September 2025, consultations were held in Ashgabat between the Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, R.A. Annaberdiyev, and the Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, K.M. Logvinov, according to the Russian foreign ministry.
The consultations, conducted in accordance with the 2025-2026 Program of Inter-Ministerial Cooperation, focused on strengthening bilateral interaction within the framework of the United Nations.
A thorough exchange of views took place on the most pressing issues on the UN agenda. The parties elaborated on their national priorities and initiatives for the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
Current trends in the functioning of the UN were discussed, and the parties assessed the “UN-80” reform initiative. It was emphasized that any transformations should be carefully considered, and aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the global organization, while strictly adhering to the provisions of its Charter.
The meeting reaffirmed the closeness of Moscow and Ashgabat’s approaches to a wide range of international agenda issues. The sides expressed a mutual commitment to further deepening their strategic partnership within the UN, based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect, and consideration of each other’s interests.

On the same day, Logvinov held consultations in Ashgabat with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia and Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Kaha Imnadze.
The parties discussed a wide range of regional issues within the UNRCCA’s mandate, including counterterrorism and extremism, anti-drug cooperation, transboundary water management, and youth-related issues.
They exchanged views on recent developments in Central Asia, and discussed broader regional dynamics including Afghanistan.
SRSG Imnadze provided an overview of the Regional Centre’s programmatic activities, underscoring ongoing efforts, and key initiatives planned for the near future.
Logvinov expressed support for the UNRCCA’s activities, highlighting its role in promoting stability and security in the region. The importance of continued cooperation between the UNRCCA and regional organizations such as the CIS, CSTO, and SCO was emphasized. ///nCa, 9 September 2025
