On 27 September 2026, a grand military and civilian parade celebrating the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence took place in the square in front of the Main Tribune complex in Ashgabat. The large-scale festivities highlighted the country’s strong defense capability, dynamic economic growth, and rich cultural heritage.
As part of the military parade, formations from all branches of the Armed Forces, cadets of military institutes, cavalry, a women’s unit, and elite special forces marched in precise ranks. The ground forces display was complemented by armored vehicles, missile systems, and artillery units, while military aircraft showcased their mastery in the skies. The nation’s naval power was presented via a live broadcast of the Naval Forces parade from the Caspian Sea.
A special highlight of the celebration was the presentation of a magnificent Akhal-Teke foal born in 2024, named Watan, gifted to the President of Turkmenistan on behalf of the Government.
The festivities continued with a colorful procession of decorated floats representing key ministries and government agencies, reflecting achievements across major sectors — from the fuel and energy complex to digitalization and the smart city of Arkadag. As civilian participants marched past, hundreds of horse-shaped balloons ascended into the sky, symbolizing the motto of the year, “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of the Purposeful Heavenly Horses.” The celebration concluded with vibrant performances by artists, creative ensembles, athletes, and youth groups. /// nCa, 27 September 2026
