Practical training sessions for private sector representatives working in the garment manufacturing industry were held in Turkmenabat and Balkanabat. The events were organized by the International Trade Centre (ITC) under the European Union-funded project “Turkmenistan: Trade Resilience and Integration.”
The training aimed to enhance the professional skills of local designers, pattern makers, seamstresses, and atelier staff. The courses, which took place in late April and mid-May, were conducted by an ITC national consultant. She had previously completed a training-of-trainers program in Ashgabat under the guidance of an ITC international expert specializing in garment construction, fit correction, and quality improvement.

The training program covered pattern making for women’s dresses tailored to non-standard body types. Participants studied modern techniques for taking measurements, drafting basic dress and sleeve blocks, and garment alteration methods. During the practical sessions, the apparel specialists tackled typical production challenges and mastered techniques aimed at improving garment fit and enhancing the quality of finished products.
These regional training sessions build upon the ITC’s systematic efforts to develop Turkmenistan’s garment sector, which began with practical workshops in Ashgabat. This initiative is designed to upgrade the skills of local professionals, improve the quality of finished goods, and boost the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
