Today, Turkmenistan widely celebrates the Day of Constitution and the State Flag. On this occasion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed the people of the country with a congratulatory message published in the print media.
In his address, the head of state emphasized the deep symbolic and legal significance of these two national shrines, noting that “the Constitution, which declares a person the highest value of society and the state, and the State Flag, embodying the inviolability of our independence and neutrality, cohesion and unity, are national shrines.”
Speaking about the symbolism of the Banner, Serdar Berdimuhamedov pointed out that “the green color of the cloth of the State Flag marks renewal and life itself,” the carpet ornaments placed on it “reflect the honor of the nation, its peacefulness and well-being,” the olive branches signify “commitment to humanism,” and the crescent with five stars “personifies the unity of the people, inspires to move along the path of glorious achievements to the heights of progress.”
The president emphasizes that the Basic Law forms a solid foundation for “permanent neutrality, thrice recognized by the United Nations, peacefulness and good neighborliness,” the principles of which the country successfully promotes on the global stage.
The Constitution also “enshrines the democratic foundations of our people that have developed over several thousand years.” Guided by them, Turkmenistan is building a “legal, secular state, a fair civil society” and successfully implementing “socio-economic and political-legal reforms.”
On the occasion of the Day of Constitution and the State Flag, festive celebrations will take place at the Monument of the Constitution and the Main Flagpole in Ashgabat. Major events are also scheduled in the central squares hosting main flagpoles in the city of Arkadag, the regional administrative centers, and the Avaza National Tourist Zone, as well as across other cities and villages throughout the country.///nCa, 18 May 2026
