An international seminar titled “The Role of Regional Training Centers in Strengthening Regional Connectivity” has opened in Ashgabat, bringing together experts from Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran, along with participants from Japan and Hungary who joined the discussions online, according to THP.
Opening the session, Dashgin Aliyev, Regional Development Manager for the European Region at the World Customs Organization (WCO), outlined the implementation of the WCO’s professional training programs. Experts also reviewed practical training models and mechanisms for sharing experience that enable customs services to adapt more quickly to evolving global trade rules.
Delegates had the opportunity to assess the facilities firsthand during a visit to the Regional Training Center in Ashgabat. During the tour, participants observed live classes and visited training rooms in operation.
In one classroom, guests followed a session focused on analyzing the performance of inspection and screening systems, including the “TH-SCAN Turkmenistan” complexes. Discussions covered the use of modern X-ray equipment, with particular emphasis on identifying critical details and anomalies in images to improve the detection of concealed violations. International experts also shared elements of their professional experience, offering practical advice to trainees.
The visit concluded with a mini-exhibition in the lobby of the training facility, where handmade carpets, jewelry and other examples of traditional decorative and applied arts were on display, THP reported. /// nCa, 30 April 2026
