The chairman of the Turkish company Rönesans Holding, Erman Ilicak, highly appreciated the pace of development of Turkmenistan, calling it a “regional success story.” Speaking at the International Conference “Development of the Construction, Industrial, Chemical and Energy Sectors of Turkmenistan” (CIET 2025), he stressed that the country’s successes are the result of a far-sighted government policy focused on sustainable development, environmental awareness and advanced technologies.
” Since we began our work in Turkmenistan in 2009, it has been an immense honor for Rönesans to witness and contribute to the country’s amazing development journey,” Ilicak said.
Key achievements in construction and industry
Over the 16 years of its work in Turkmenistan, Rönesans has implemented many projects, including the creation of critically important industrial facilities.
Key projects implemented:
• Numerous projects in Ashgabat have been successfully completed, including educational complexes, hotels, and government buildings.
• Together with the Japanese partner Kawasaki, a plant for the production of synthetic gasoline from natural gas in the Akhal province (GTG) was successfully built and put into operation in 2019. This plant, funded by Japanese capital, is one of the largest of its kind in the world. Its annual capacity is 600,000 tons. It serves as a global reference project for the conversion of gas to gasoline.
Current and planned projects
“We are currently working intensively with our Japanese partners, Kawasaki and Itochu, to implement the second of this gas-to-gasoline project”, Ilicak said.
Also, in accordance with the agreement with the Turkmenhimiya State Corporation, a new carbamide-formaldehyde production plant is being built at the GTG plant.
The plant’s capacity will be 20,000 tons of urea-formaldehyde concentrate per year. Completion of construction and commissioning are scheduled for June 2026. Once commissioned, this facility is expected to fully satisfy the country’s domestic demand for urea-formaldehyde.
In addition, together with the Japanese partner Toyo, Rönesans is implementing the first of works to reliably start-up the production of the Kiyanly polymer plant.
Turkmenistan’s role in the energy and green agenda
Erman Ilicak emphasized the strategic vision of Turkmenistan, which considers its rich natural resources not only as an economic asset, but also as a strategic element of regional stability, energy security and environmental balance.
This approach positions the country not merely as an energy hub of Central Asia, but also as a contributor to green transition and carbon-neutrality objectives. ///nCa, 3 November 2025 (photo credit – THP)
