On November 2, 2026, a ceremonial conference was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan dedicated to conferring upon the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov the degree of “Honorary Doctor in International Relations” from Hacettepe University of the Republic of Turkey, as well as the presentation of the “Strategic Friendship” badge from the Foreign Economic Relations Council of Turkey (DEİK).
The ceremony was attended by heads of several ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, representatives of government agencies, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Turkmenistan, as well as faculty and students.
During the event, the consistent development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey in the political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and educational spheres was noted.
Particular attention was paid to Turkmenistan’s foreign policy initiatives aimed at strengthening international peace, trust and security, as well as expanding cooperation with the states of the Turkic world.
It was noted that the awarding of the honorary degree of “Honorary Doctor in International Relations” from Hacettepe University and the “Strategic Friendship” badge from the Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) to the Head of Turkmenistan is recognition of the significant contribution of the President of Turkmenistan to the development of international cooperation, strengthening global peace and security, creating favorable conditions for expanding business contacts, as well as the successful implementation of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy based on the principles of permanent neutrality.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Turkmenistan, Şener Cebeci, emphasized the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation and the opening of the new Turkic Cultural Park as a symbol of the friendship of fraternal peoples.
Conference participants emphasized that the achieved level of intergovernmental cooperation opens up additional opportunities for implementing joint projects, expanding contacts between relevant institutions and business communities, and further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
At the end of the ceremonial meeting, an address was adopted to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, expressing sincere gratitude and congratulations on the occasion of being awarded an honorary degree from Hacettepe University and the DEİK Strategic Friendship badge. /// nCa, 3 November 2026 (in cooperation with MFA Turkmenistan)
