On 1–2 September 2025, a Turkmenistan delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Myakhri Byashimova participated in the anniversary Bled Strategic Forum in Bled, Slovenia. The Turkmen delegation took part in the opening ceremony of this international discussion platform.
During the visit to Slovenia, Byashimova met with Damjan Bergant, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Slovenia on Foreign Policy.
The Deputy Minister highlighted that 2025 holds special significance for Turkmenistan, as the country celebrates the 30th anniversary of its neutrality, a status recognized three times by United Nations General Assembly resolutions. In this context, a high-level international conference dedicated to peace and confidence-building will be held in Ashgabat on 12 December. The Turkmen side invited Slovenia to participate in the upcoming forum and expressed gratitude for Slovenia’s support of Turkmenistan’s initiatives on international platforms, particularly within the United Nations.
The sides discussed prospects for developing high-level contacts and explored the possibility of organizing a meeting between the leaders of the two countries on the sidelines of the upcoming UN General Assembly session in New York. The Turkmen delegation reaffirmed the country’s readiness to further deepen cooperation both with the European Union as a whole and with EU member states on a bilateral basis.
In turn, Damjan Bergant emphasized the importance of further strengthening relations between Slovenia and Turkmenistan. He noted that he had visited Turkmenistan multiple times and each time witnessed the country’s dynamic development.
The Advisor to the President assured that Slovenia remains committed to developing cooperation with Turkmenistan and will make every effort to ensure meaningful participation in the international forum in Ashgabat.
Both sides underscored the significant potential for expanding interaction and expressed confidence that, with mutual commitment, cooperation can be elevated to a new, higher level.
