On 22 May 2026, ahead of the CIS Council of Heads of Government meeting in Ashgabat, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, the State News Agency (TDH) reports.
At the start of the meeting, Aripov conveyed warm greetings from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Turkmen President and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In turn, President Berdimuhamedov extended best wishes back to his Uzbek counterpart.
The sides emphasized that the friendship and good-neighborliness between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan remain long-term and strategic.
Today, the two nations cooperate effectively not only bilaterally but also within major international and regional frameworks, including the UN, OSCE, ECO, and CIS.
Turning to trade and economic ties, the sides highlighted transport and logistics as highly promising areas for partnership. They noted that the favorable geographic location of both countries unlocks significant potential for joint projects in these sectors.
The sides also stressed the importance of deepening bilateral cultural and humanitarian ties.
In closing, President and Prime-Minister expressed confidence that Turkmen-Uzbek relations, rooted in centuries of close neighborliness, will continue to grow stronger. ///nCa, 23 May 2026
