On 5 May 2026, the two-day international forum “Yerevan Dialogue 2026” commenced in Yerevan. A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov, is participating in the forum, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Now in its third year, the forum has brought together high-ranking government officials, private sector representatives, NGOs, academia, youth, and other stakeholders. The event aims to promote discussions on shared challenges facing Europe as a community of values, as well as to seek solutions to pressing issues in various regions across the globe.
The main themes of the forum include overcoming geopolitical divisions, European integration, global interconnectivity, democratic resilience, hybrid threats and AI, the green transition, and technology and security architecture.
Speaking at the forum, the head of the Turkmen delegation noted that Turkmenistan is actively strengthening the foundation of its energy sector through large-scale system modernization, improved energy efficiency, and a consistent reduction in emissions.
Particular emphasis was placed on the phased expansion of renewable energy sources (RES) while maintaining the country’s economic stability and social well-being.
It was noted that Turkmenistan has already taken concrete steps toward creating an enabling environment for a “green” energy transition.
The delegation emphasized that the environmental transformation of the industry is directly linked to ensuring energy security, adapting the labor market, and achieving balanced regional development. Key priorities highlighted included guaranteeing an uninterrupted energy supply for the population, training a new generation of qualified specialists, and ensuring equal access for all communities to the benefits of attracted investments.
The speech also underscored the importance of constructive international cooperation in implementing national plans. It was noted that close engagement with reputable partners, such as the UN and international financial institutions, serves as a clear example of the effectiveness of external support.
