On 11 December 2025, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held bilateral meetings with his foreign colleagues and heads of government of foreign countries who arrived at the International Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality. Among the high-ranking participants: Kazakhstan, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Myanmar, Armenia, Eswatini, the Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, Iraq. On the same day, Berdimuhamedov received the heads of companies that are long-term partners of Turkmenistan – Toyo Engineering Corporation, Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.
Kazakhstan
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, during a meeting with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, noted that Turkmenistan sees Kazakhstan as a reliable strategic partner. Interstate relations are based on the principles of mutual respect, equality and constructive dialogue. Two countries are actively expanding cooperation both in the bilateral format and within the framework of international structures. Regular contacts at the highest level also attest to the effectiveness of cooperation on the world stage. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that he warmly recalls his recent state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, which once again confirmed the fraternal nature of the interstate dialogue.
Iran
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of Iran Masoud Peseshkian. The Head of Turkmenistan noted that Iran is one of the important trade and economic partners of Turkmenistan, while the parties emphasized the existence of great opportunities for expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including in such areas as science, education, sports and tourism. The friendly relations established between Turkmenistan and Iran, as well as mutually beneficial cooperation, will continue to strengthen, the head of state stressed, confirming the readiness of the Turkmen side to consolidate efforts in this direction.
Tadjikistan
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. As noted, in recent years, interstate cooperation has reached a new level. Regular negotiations and mutual visits at the highest and governmental levels contribute to the strengthening of friendly Turkmen-Tajik relations. The countries successfully cooperate both in a bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations, which determines the progressive dynamics and constructive nature of the partnership. The trade and economic sphere is a priority area of cooperation. In this context, the sides stressed the importance of consistently building up this interaction.
Uzbekistan
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The heads of state discussed the successful development of bilateral dialogue and effective cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, the CIS and the OTS, stressed the importance of President Berdimuhamedov’s recent state visit to Uzbekistan and expressed their intention to increase mutual trade and deepen trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation based on common history and cultural values, concluding the meeting by expressing confidence in the further successful development of good-neighborly relations.
Kyrgyzstan
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov. The Heads of State stressed the great importance of the upcoming Forum for strengthening peace and sustainable development, and also noted that Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan share friendly and fraternal relations based on historical and cultural community and commitment to traditions. During the talks, the sides noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of mutual trade turnover and confirmed the existence of great opportunities for further building up bilateral trade and economic partnership and developing an interstate dialogue based on mutual respect and trust.
Pakistan
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. The Head of Turkmenistan called Pakistan an important partner in the South Asian region. The parties noted the effective cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, ECO, OIC and SCO. The key topic of the talks was cooperation in the energy sector, where President Berdimuhamedov stressed his confidence that the implementation of transnational projects such as the TAPI gas pipeline (Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India) and a power transmission line and fiber-optic communications along the same route would give impetus to the socio-economic development of the entire region and become a key a factor of sustainable development. In conclusion, the parties confirmed the expediency of strengthening cultural ties and further developing interstate relations.
Azerbaijan
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov. Asadov called Turkmen neutrality an exemplary example of promoting a culture of trust. The parties confirmed that the two fraternal countries are united by a common historical and cultural heritage and are developing a bilateral and multilateral dialogue based on the principles of equality and good neighborliness. Turkmenistan highly appreciated the comprehensive partnership with Azerbaijan, as well as the great opportunities for building productive cooperation in various fields, and expressed confidence that Prime Minister Asadov’s visit would contribute to further strengthening interstate relations.
Georgia
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze. At the meeting, the sides noted that in recent years, relations between the two countries have noticeably intensified due to consistent contacts at a high political level, and emphasized the importance of the recent negotiations held in Avaza. In conclusion, both sides expressed confidence in the further successful development of interstate relations for the benefit of the peoples of Turkmenistan and Georgia.
Myanmar
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Nyo So. President Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of relations with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and sees great opportunities for building up partnership with Myanmar in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness for active cooperation in the bilateral format and within the framework of the United Nations, as well as to establish mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, inviting the Prime Minister to familiarize himself with the economic potential and export opportunities of Turkmenistan.
Eswatini
At a meeting with Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini Russell Dlamini, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that the development of friendly relations with the countries of the African continent, including the Kingdom of Eswatini, is a priority of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy. Both sides noted that diplomatic relations were established relatively recently, but high-level negotiations are becoming regular, and recalled the importance of the first visit of King Eswatini Mswati III to Turkmenistan to participate in the UN conference in Avaza. The importance of cooperation within the framework of the United Nations was noted, as well as the existence of significant potential for expanding bilateral cooperation, and the Turkmen side confirmed its readiness to consider specific proposals for the further development of these relations.
Armenia
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturian. President Khachaturian highly appreciated Turkmenistan’s initiatives in the field of ecology, confirming his willingness to cooperate; the parties noted the significant strengthening of the bilateral dialogue based on equality and trust, emphasizing the desire for productive partnership and the opportunities for expanding trade and economic ties.
Iraq
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Republic of Iraq Abdul Latif Rashid. The Head of Turkmenistan thanked the Iraqi leader for the visit, noting that his participation confirms support for the policy of neutrality and the desire for peace, and the President of Iraq, in turn, expressed gratitude for the invitation and praised the achievements of neutral Turkmenistan. Both sides stressed that the relations between the two countries, based on friendship and trust, are constantly expanding both in the bilateral format and within the framework of the United Nations, and expressed confidence that the Forum will serve to strengthen global peace, and the visit will give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations, in which there are great prospects.
Republic of Sao Tome and Principe
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with President of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe Carlos Manuel Vila Nova. The Head of Turkmenistan thanked the distinguished guest for the visit, considering his participation as support for the policy of neutrality, and the President of Sao Tome and Principe, congratulating on the holiday, noted the honor of visiting a neutral country committed to strengthening peace. The parties stressed that the International Forum will play a key role in strengthening global peace, and the visit of Vila Nova will give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations, which have significant potential for interaction in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, which confirms the commitment of both countries to expand multilateral cooperation.
Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.
As part of the celebrations on the occasion of the International Day of Neutrality, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the head of the South Korean company Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. Kim Bo-hyun. The Head of State noted that Turkmenistan highly appreciates cooperation with the Republic of Korea, within the framework of which Korean companies, including Daewoo, have been implementing large-scale projects in the oil and gas and chemical industries for many years. It was noted that Daewoo is currently building a complex for the production of mineral fertilizers at the Turkmenabat Chemical Plant.; The President expressed confidence in the quality and timely implementation of the project. Kim Bo-hyun, in turn, assured that the company will fulfill all contractual obligations at a high level.
Toyo Engineering Corporation
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Eiji Hosoi, President, CEO and Representative Director of the Japanese company Toyo Engineering Corporation. The Head of State stressed that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with Japan, including Toyo Engineering Corporation, which has already accumulated positive experience in implementing joint projects in the gas and chemical industries. The willingness to further strengthen the partnership in building the potential of the chemical industry, manufacturing new products and introducing environmentally friendly technologies was expressed; the head of the Japanese company, in turn, expressed the honor to contribute to the economic development of Turkmenistan. ///nCa, 12 December 2025
