A meeting was held in Ashgabat between the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and Mr. Oliver Stolpe, Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Central Asia.
The parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation under the Passenger and Cargo Control Program, implemented with the support of UNODC. Particular attention was given to the activities of existing Port Control Units operating in Turkmenbashi, Ashgabat, and Farap, as well as plans to establish a new unit in Serakhs—a key transit hub on the Turkmenistan–Iran border.
During the talks, the participants exchanged views on priority areas for further collaboration, including enhancing the efficiency of customs operations, strengthening regional security, and combating transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.
A separate topic of discussion was the formal recognition of the Regional Training Center of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan. Both sides expressed interest in conducting joint activities at the center.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and to deepening the partnership in the name of security and sustainable development. ///nCa, 9 September 2025
