National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Arkadag Berdimuhamedov, received in separate meetings two foreign guests who came to Turkmenistan for the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence. They were Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, and Ahmet Calik, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Turkey’s Calik Holding.

At the start of the meeting, Arkadag and Minnikhanov were photographed in front of the state flags of the two countries.
Minnikhanov thanked his host for the warm welcome and congratulated the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty on the anniversary. He conveyed greetings and best wishes to Arkadag and to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Arkadag returned his good wishes to both Russian leaders. He said he was glad to see Minnikhanov in Turkmenistan and described his presence at the anniversary events as evidence of the friendly and constructive relations between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan. He said cooperation rests on mutual respect and a shared wish to develop mutually beneficial partnership.
Arkadag described bilateral cooperation as regular and consistent. He said high-level meetings and talks help identify promising areas of joint work, and he noted the productive talks held during his visit to Tatarstan in May this year. Cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan, he added, develops within the wider framework of dialogue between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
Arkadag also highlighted the role of the Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation, calling it an effective mechanism for the partnership. The two men closed the meeting by exchanging good wishes for each other and for the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.
Calik Holding
Calik, who also came for the independence celebrations, thanked Arkadag for the warm reception and for making time during the holiday period. He congratulated Arkadag, President Berdimuhamedov and the Turkmen people on the 35th anniversary and passed on greetings and best wishes from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He said the festivities in Turkmenistan, which he called the historical homeland, would be remembered as a landmark in the country’s modern history.
Arkadag said he was pleased to receive the guest during the anniversary celebrations and sent his own best wishes to the Turkish President. He thanked the businessman for coming to share in the joy of the national holiday. He noted that friendly, fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey have developed successfully since the earliest years of independence, in areas including energy, textiles and construction.
Calik expressed admiration for Turkmenistan’s achievements across all sectors. He said they reflected the steady implementation of Arkadag’s initiatives under the leadership of President Berdimuhamedov. Arkadag wished the head of Calik Holding success in his work. /// nCa, 29 September 2026
