Today, 1 September, a new academic year kicks off across educational institutions in Turkmenistan. To mark the festive occasion, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed a congratulatory message to students, schoolchildren, and educators. The text of the address was published by the country’s print and electronic media.
“Science and education are the solid foundation of our powerful state and happy life. Therefore, following the wise precepts of our ancestors regarding science, education, and the upbringing of generations, and relying on scientific and technological achievements and innovation, we are confidently advancing our country along the path of progress with the speed of a racehorse,” the President noted.
Offering guidance to the youth, the Head of State said: “You are the pride and bright future of the Motherland. You are the continuation of our nation, which throughout history has held science, education, and knowledge in high esteem as a sacred heritage passed down from generation to generation.” The duty of the young generation is to “be proud of their beloved Fatherland, study hard, create, and build for the sake of the country’s great future.”
Addressing teachers and education system employees, Berdimuhamedov emphasized: “Education is the continuous development of human intellect, a bridge connecting the experience of the past with the innovations of the future.”
The Head of State urged educators to “constantly improve their professional skills, actively apply scientific achievements, innovative teaching methods, and advanced practices in all fields of education,” as well as to “develop new modern textbooks and teaching materials to enhance the quality and enrich the content of the educational process.”
By tradition, the start of the new academic year in Turkmenistan coincides with the launching of new educational infrastructure projects. Today will mark the opening of new campus buildings for the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction in Ashgabat and the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute in Turkmenabat, as well as modern secondary schools and kindergartens across the provinces. /// nCa, 1 September 2026
