From 10 to 21 August 2026, a representative of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part for the first time in the International Course for Senior Officers of Customs on Narcotics Identification and Narcotics Law Enforcement.
The course, organized by the Royal Malaysian Customs Academy (AKMAL), was held in the city of Malacca under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP).
The training covered topics including drug detection and combating illegal trafficking, risk management, profiling, conducting investigations, and applying modern customs control methods. Particular attention was given to exchanging experience among the customs administrations of participating countries and strengthening international cooperation, according to the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
Participation in the program provided an opportunity to learn from the experience of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, including how customs control is organized at international airports and seaports, as well as the use of modern technologies in the customs field.
AKMAL is an internationally recognized institution dedicated to training customs officials from around the world. The academy actively shares Malaysia’s law enforcement expertise on the international stage through the MTCP.
It regularly hosts the “International Course for Senior Officers of Customs on Narcotics Identification and Narcotics Law Enforcement,” under which mid- and senior-level customs officials from Latin America, Africa, Central Asia, and ASEAN countries exchange best practices.
