President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will attend three regional summits to be hosted by Turkmenistan this coming October. This was confirmed during a telephone conversation between Tokayev and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
According to TDH news agency, Tokayev confirmed his participation in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Council of Heads of State of the CIS, and the Caspian Ecological Summit. All three summits will take place in the Avaza National Tourist Zone on 7–9 October 2026.
The agenda for the upcoming meetings will cover several key areas of regional interaction: cooperation among Central Asian states and Azerbaijan, multilateral dialogue within the framework of the CIS, as well as environmental safety and sustainable development in the Caspian Sea region.
During the conversation, Tokayev also expressed hope for the participation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the Aqaba Process meeting on “Security in the Sphere of Artificial Intelligence,” which will be held in early November in Astana.
The Aqaba Process is an international initiative launched in 2015 by King Abdullah II of Jordan to strengthen global and regional cooperation in security, counter-terrorism, and combating extremism. The upcoming meeting in Astana will focus on new security challenges associated with the development of artificial intelligence, including the risks of its use for destructive purposes and the protection of critical infrastructure.
During the phone call, the parties reaffirmed the strategic nature of Turkmen-Kazakh relations, the alignment of positions on international and regional issues, as well as mutual support for foreign policy initiatives within the UN.
Tokayev also thanked Berdimuhamedov for Turkmenistan’s accession to the Treaty on Friendship, Good-Neighborliness, and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century.
In conclusion, the sides expressed confidence that the traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan will continue to develop successfully. ///nCa, 26 August 2026
