Departments at the International Pediatric Center in Ashgabat will be equipped with artificial intelligence-based technologies. The center is nearing completion. On Friday, 21 August, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the facility under construction, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports.
Minister of Health and Medical Industry M. Gayypov briefed the President on the progress of construction and plans for equipping the center’s departments.
The five-storey International Pediatric Center will provide medical services to children over the age of three. Its operations are expected to be carried out in cooperation with leading international clinics.
The President inspected the consultation, diagnostic and treatment rooms, as well as inpatient wards.
The diagnostic department includes specialized rooms for functional and imaging diagnostics.
The department is also equipped with modern endoscopic systems from leading global manufacturers, enabling medical specialists to obtain clear and rapid information using AI-based technologies.
The treatment department features digital X-ray and intensive care rooms. Its equipment, described as having no regional equivalent, will enable the collection and analysis of relevant information using AI technology.
In the operating unit, all departments will be connected online through monitoring systems. This will allow medical staff to request and receive the necessary data instantly during surgical procedures.
The center will also provide a range of facilities designed to support the successful treatment of young patients, including interactive digital entertainment options for children during procedures, adaptive room design and online systems for monitoring indoor climate conditions.
Infection-control requirements have also been taken into account. The postoperative department will provide isolated care facilities designed to prevent the spread of pathogens.
After reviewing the plans, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a number of comments. He stressed the importance of ensuring a high standard of medical services at the center, particularly in consultation, diagnosis and treatment.
Emphasizing the need to make effective use of digital technologies, including AI, in the healthcare system, especially in pediatrics, the President instructed officials to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment and other technical systems installed at the center.
The President also instructed officials to pay particular attention to upgrading the qualifications of senior medical personnel and maintaining electronic records of the work carried out in the departments. This will allow doctors to review the course and outcomes of treatment in detail through a digital system and gain practical experience from the data collected.
Construction of the 160-bed center began in March 2023, and it is scheduled to open in time for Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers’ Day, observed in Turkmenistan on 10 October.///nCa, 22 August 2026.
