On 1 April 2026, the International Transport and Logistics Forum opened in Saint Petersburg, hosted at the “Expoforum” Convention and Exhibition Centre from 1 to 3 April. A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by the Deputy Minister of Railway Transport, Silapberdi Nurberdiyev, is participating in the event.
The forum has brought together representatives from international organizations, major transport and logistics companies, freight forwarding businesses, and port and warehouse infrastructure providers.
Participants are discussing the infrastructure development of international transport corridors, freight and passenger logistics, tourism, digital services, innovative solutions, and legal regulations within the transport sector. The agenda also covers the activities of the global transport industry and the implementation of forward-looking technologies.
Turkmenistan has long been a leading initiator of systematic international dialogue regarding transport connectivity and logistical integration.
At Turkmenistan’s initiative, the UN General Assembly has adopted several resolutions on transport cooperation. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that Turkmenistan hosted the first UN Global Sustainable Transport Conference in 2016, which effectively laid the foundation for systematic international communication on these issues.
The participation of the Turkmen delegation in this forum is a continuation of the country’s proactive efforts to strengthen cooperation and consolidate global efforts in the transport sector. /// nCa, 1 April 2026 (In cooperation with the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Russia)
