On 10 February 2026, during his official visit to Ashgabat, Minister of Trade of Türkiye Ömer Bolat held key negotiations with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Nokerguly Atagulyev. Following the meeting, which the Minister announced on his X (formerly Twitter) social media page, both parties confirmed their intent to further develop economic cooperation across various sectors, ranging from trade to tourism.
“We have reached an agreement with Turkmenistan to cooperate primarily in trade and economic fields, including the organization of and participation in mutual trade fairs, investment forums, sectoral panels, and the organization of bilateral business meetings,” the Minister wrote.
Ömer Bolat emphasized that the parties have “decided to work together to further advance our bilateral relations in every field of the economy—from trade to contracting, joint investments to energy, and transport to tourism.”
At the heart of these ambitious economic goals lies the political will of the two nations’ presidents. During the consultations, Minister Bolat and DPM Atagulyev synchronized their efforts regarding the implementation of the strategy outlined by the heads of state.
“We will continue to work with all our might to increase the trade volume with Turkmenistan, which reached $2.2 billion in 2025, to the $5 billion target set by our Presidents,” Ömer Bolat concluded.
Earlier, at a press conference in Ashgabat, the Ambassador of Türkiye to Turkmenistan, Ahmet Demirok, told that—taking into account ongoing projects from previous years and new contracts—the project portfolio of Turkish firms in Turkmenistan is approaching $10 billion in value. According to the diplomat, Turkish companies have made a significant contribution to the modernization of Turkmenistan’s infrastructure, having constructed power plants, transmission lines, highways, residential complexes, shopping centers, universities, schools, administrative buildings, hotels, factories, canals, museums, parks, hospitals, and ports.
The current visit of the Turkish delegation to Ashgabat serves as yet another confirmation that the slogan “one nation, two states” is finding its material embodiment in large-scale economic figures./// nCa, 10 February 2026
