President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with President of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe Carlos Manuel Vila Nova, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held on the Caspian Sea coast.
During the meeting, the head of Turkmenistan warmly welcomed the distinguished guest, expressing gratitude for his participation in the international forum. President Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the visit would mark a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations and open a new chapter in the history of interstate cooperation.
President Vila Nova thanked Turkmenistan for its hospitality and highlighted the importance of the conference in Awaza, which fosters sustainable development for landlocked developing countries and their integration into the global economy.
Special attention was given to Turkmenistan’s foreign policy strategy, based on the principles of neutrality, recognized by the United Nations three times. President Berdimuhamedov emphasized Turkmenistan’s interest in expanding cooperation with African countries, including São Tomé and Príncipe, considering the island nation’s tourism potential and geographic location.
“We advocate for active engagement both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations, primarily the United Nations,” the Turkmen leader noted.
During the visit, the São Tomé and Príncipe delegation had the opportunity to explore Turkmenistan’s economic, industrial, and export potential. President Berdimuhamedov affirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at developing mutually beneficial cooperation.
