The private Turkmen company Hazar güýji, together with Turkmen state and Chinese companies, will implement two projects in the west of Turkmenistan – the construction of an ammonia and urea production plant and carbon black production plants in the Balkan province.
Serdarmamed Tachmamedov, Deputy director of “Hazar güýji”, in interview with the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper revealed some details on new projects.
Ammonia and Urea Production Plant in Kiyanli
“Turkmenistan is rich in hydrocarbon resources, and their deep processing is a new point of economic growth and development of the country’s export potential. In this regard, one of the priorities of the national economy is the development of the gas chemical industry based on high technologies, the introduction of modern advanced knowledge and management solutions. From this stance, the project of a plant for the production of ammonia and carbamide was developed, to be built in Kiyanli, Balkan province,” says Tachmamedov.
The production capacity of the plant will be 1200 tons of ammonia and 1950 tons of granular urea per day.
The Chinese company “Chengda Engineering Co., Ltd” acts as the general contractor for the design and supply of equipment for this project.
“This is a leading and experienced company of the People’s Republic of China. Our economic society and this company have held extensive discussions, and experts from both sides are carrying out appropriate work on the implementation of the project,” underlined Tachmamedov.
Kellogg Brown & Root International (USA) is the licensee for the production of ammonia and Stamicarbon (Netherlands) – for carbamide.
The site for the construction of the plant was chosen taking into account the availability of raw materials. The plant will consume 450-500 million cubic meters of natural gas per year.
Carbon black production plant
Another project for the construction of a carbon black production plant, is aimed at the efficient use of the excess associated gas produced at the oil and gas fields of the Turkmen Oil State Concern. This will prevent the negative impact of mining on the environment and air layers.
The investment proposal for the projects was developed jointly with the Chinese company “Fushun Zhenxing Chemical Engineering Design Co.,Ltd.” after studying the world’s best practices for the production of carbon black from excess associated gas generated during oil production. The company acts as the general contractor of the project.
The production capacity of one semi-mobile unit for the production of carbon black by the furnace method is 1500 tons per year, that is 4-5 tons per day. One installation requires 9 million cubic meters of associated gas per year as a raw material.
The carbon black is used in various industries, such as the production of rubber, tires, paints, plastics, medicine, aerospace, radio electronics and many other industries.
In order to implement this project, close work is being carried out with the State Concern “Turkmen Oil” and the Turkmen National Oil and Gas Company (NAPECO).
Within the framework of the project, Hazar güýji plans to establish a new joint economic society with NAPECO.
According to Tachmamedov, the new projects are a big step towards attracting innovative technologies and investments to the country, creating an opportunity for the development of Turkmenistan’s export potential. New jobs will also be created. ///nCa, 14 July 2023
